The Kanga Educational Foundation (KEF) is an educational non-profit organization grounded in the core principles underpinning effective educational practice for Kurdish children. The Foundation advances educational development by providing tailored programs to strengthen teaching and learning.

KEF upholds essential theories, values, and principles of national investment, quality education, media literacy, and digital literacy, recognizing these as key drivers of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. As an academic field, KEF draws on multidisciplinary research to evaluate educational systems and learning environments, equipping educators with critical, analytical, and ethical perspectives. Guided by the vision “Today’s Learners, Tomorrow’s Leaders,” the Foundation ensures its initiatives remain impactful, future-focused, and aligned with national development priorities.

Vision

KEF’s vision is to prepare “today’s learners” to become “tomorrow’s leaders” by advancing the quality of education, promoting national investment in human capital, and enhancing media and digital literacy across communities. Through rigorous research, scholarship, institutional support, and innovative initiatives, KEF is committed to building an equitable, future-focused education system grounded in strong academic and ethical principles.

Mission

The mission of KEF is to:

I. Deliver high-quality education, preserve and promote Kurdish linguistic and cultural heritage, and strengthen media and digital literacy across all segments of society.

II. Develop capacities that contribute meaningfully to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Strategic Departments

Education and Learning

We work to strengthen Kurdish language education in the diaspora by:

  • Developing and standardising KANGA’s Kurdish language curriculum.
  • Working towards formal recognition of Kurdish within the GCSE framework.
  • Managing and supporting Kurdish schools across the diaspora.

Cultural Heritage

We aim to protect and promote Kurdish identity by:

  • Revitalising Kurdish culture within diaspora communities.
  • Raising national awareness of the four parts of Kurdistan.
  • Delivering digital cultural projects such as “One Hundred and One Years”, including English-led initiatives that support cultural development in Southern Kurdistan.
