About the Trustee
LAZO AZAD is a dedicated social scientist, acclaimed author, and community leader based in the UK. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Working with Children, Young People, and Families (2015) and a Master’s degree in Youth and Community Work (2019) from Newman University, UK. Her academic research has focused significantly on domestic violence reporting and social integration.

Community Leadership & Humanitarian Work
Lazo has been a driving force behind numerous humanitarian initiatives:

Co-founder of the "Piroza" Campaign: Providing vital aid to Shingal IDPs (2014–2016).
Co-founder of Project "Mekhek": Supporting Kurdish women and children in Birmingham and the Kurdistan Region (2017–2021).
Executive Leadership: Served on the board of "Komak," supporting underprivileged families in Kurdistan, and currently serves as the Administrative Director of the Kurdish Cultural Association in Birmingham.
Social Advisor: She currently provides professional consultancy within a social organization, utilizing her expertise to support community welfare.

Literary & Cultural Contributions
An established voice in Kurdish literature, Lazo’s poetry and prose have been translated into English, Arabic, Spanish, and Danish.
Published Works: Author of The Princess of the Black Palace (2013), The Book of Writing a Thousand and One Dreams (2016), and Another Way (2025).
Awards: Second-place winner at the Galawej Festival (2012) and recipient of the Honorary Award from the General Directorate of Culture and Arts in Sulaymaniyah (2024).
Film & Arts: Board member and Artistic Supervisor for the Kurdish Film Festival in Birmingham (2023–2024).
