The Kanga Educational Foundation (KEF) continued its commitment to national identity and heritage on Sunday, April 19, 2026, by playing a central role in the Halabja and Anfal Genocide Memorial ceremony held at the Lambeth Assembly Hall in London.

The event featured a powerful keynote address by Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman Salih, Chairman of the KEF Board of Trustees. His speech highlighted the vital connection between remembering our past and building a sustainable future. In recognition of KEF’s leadership and dedicated service to the Kurdish diaspora, the foundation’s delegation was honored with the symbolic task of lighting the memorial candles for the martyrs.

The heart of the ceremony featured students from Kanga Kurdish schools, who attended in traditional attire. Their contribution was both moving and symbolic:

1. The National Anthem: Students performed a heartfelt rendition of the national anthem, standing with hands over hearts in a display of unity.

2. The "Tree of Hope": The children presented an evocative art piece titled The Tree of Hope, symbolizing the deep roots of the new generation and their commitment to the continued history of Kurdistan.

Attended by government representatives, Members of Parliament, and political leaders, the event served as a vital platform for KEF to achieve three core objectives:

1. International Awareness: Raising the profile of the Kurdish genocide within global political circles.

2. National Identity: Cultivating a love for the homeland in the hearts of Kurdish children growing up abroad.

3. Unity: Strengthening the bond between generations to preserve Kurdish culture and heritage in the diaspora.

The KEF delegation, including board members Dr. Abdulrahman Salih, Ms. Shaubo Mohammed, and Mr. Dler Omer, concluded the event by lighting the anniversary candles, a gesture of loyalty to the land and people of Kurdistan.
